Dr. Amanda Ryan

D.O, MBA

Amanda Ryan, D.O is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of atherosclerosis. She has a particular interest in women’s cardiovascular health. Dr. Ryan started her education at a private liberal arts college in Naperville, IL – North Central College graduating in 1998. She received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree in 2003 at Kansas City University of Bio Medical Sciences in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Ryan then completed her internal medicine residency and served as chief medicine resident at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Her cardiology and interventional cardiology training were completed at Largo Medical Center through Nova Southeastern Medical School in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2011.

Dr. Ryan is originally from central Illinois, having grown up in a small farming community. Her career goals have always included bringing top quality, cutting-edge cardiovascular care to people in rural America. Her grandfather had a weak heart after suffering his first heart attack at age 36 and she has always been determined to help patients just like her grandfather by bringing advanced cardiac care to their communities. Family has always been important to Dr. Ryan and she followed her beloved aunts and mother into the medical field. In her limited free time, she enjoys family life with her soulmate Imari Williams and her beautiful bonus children Neo and Imaya Williams who travel between Florida and New Mexico. Plans often include trips to visit or support extended family members in their soccer, football, softball or any other endeavor.

The opportunity to relocate to Carlsbad, New Mexico and build a cardiovascular program essentially from scratch presented itself about seven years ago. Dr Ryan, along with her hand selected team of medical professionals, has slowly built a well-respected, quality regional cardiology program. Her skill set includes cardiac and peripheral arterial and venous interventional procedures. Her plans include building a state-of-the-art outpatient cardiovascular surgical center here in Carlsbad while continuing to practice at Carlsbad Medical Center and Artesia General Hospital. She will continue to serve the entire SE New Mexico region and bring innovative, compassionate, value-based care to the area.

Quickly assessing a work situation for knowledge gaps – both personal and system-wide is a strength that has developed over many years working in the Brevard County School system. As a bright youth from a disadvantaged neighborhood, going to college was definitely part of my dreams and I became a first-generation college graduate with my Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Organizational Studies.

I was raised primarily by my hard-working loving grandparents and now have the opportunity to help care for them in their later years as they did for my sister and me over the years. My first, and until now only, position post-college has been at an alternative school assisting students with unique challenges. The bonds formed and individual and school-wide growth have been amazing to participate in.

My administrative roles within the school system have varied widely and created a foundation for this next challenge.

Over the past two years, I have studied additional information technology material along with healthcare billing/coding courses in preparation to join Advanced Heart And Vascular Center of New Mexico. As an administrative member of Dr. Amanda Ryan’s team, I will help achieve the goal of creating an innovative, state-of-the-art cardiovascular practice and facility in rural Eddy County.

Karen Davidson

Registered Nurse / Operations Consultant

Hello, my name is Karen Davidson and I am a registered nurse and Operations Consultant for Advanced Heart & Vascular Center of NM and Advanced ASC. This exciting position means I do a little of everything. I draw on my 40 plus years of experience as an RN and a health care executive to assist in development and improvements to our infrastructure. I have the additional honor of being Dr. Ryan’s mother, so I have watched and encouraged this team over the past several years.

Understanding the true health care disparities in our rural area, I was truly called to become a direct member of this team as we change the healthcare landscape in SE New Mexico. Healthcare runs deep in my family as we have 1 Doctor, 5 RNs (6 if you count the one in school now), a physical therapist, a respiratory therapist, a pharmacist, and an upcoming dentist. We are in the third generation of careers devoted to taking care of others.

In my limited free time, I enjoy gardening and landscaping our yard and home improvements (in the house my father built with a $5000 loan from his boss.) I am blessed with a supportive husband, 3 awesome daughters and sons-in-law, and 5 Granddaughters ages 18 to 6, in three locations across the country.

Crystal Blye

Crystal Blye

ASC Director

Cardiology and helping others have been my passion my entire adult life. I spent 9 years with an amazing cardiologist in Virginia and then transitioned to help start Heart Care Centers of FL. This was a multi physician, advanced practice provider practice where I served as Clinical Coordinator. During this tenure, I lead the development of a comprehensive venous disease program and launched an in-house cardiac catheterization laboratory. I am a natural leader, highly organized, and efficient.

Completing my Bachelor’s Degree was a major life goal and I did this in 2020 with a degree in Health Care Administration. Several years spent in primary research of different pharmaceuticals facilitated my enhanced knowledge of state and federal guidelines. Dr. Amanda Ryan, who was part of HCCF in FL had moved to NM and we kept in close contact. In 2022, she reached out regarding me joining her team in a Director of Patient Care, ASC Development role. I am excited to be on this journey with Dr. Ryan and the rest of our amazing team.

In my free time, I enjoy boating and traveling with my best friend and husband, Jeff; we are also parents to two amazing young adults and our fur baby, Scout.
